Terms of Use
The particulars.
Pre-release draft — provider and hosting review pending
Dreadcast is a weather companion with a dramatic streak. The readings, radar, and alerts should stay factual; the illustrated outlook scenes are for atmosphere.
Scope and publisher
These terms describe use of the Dreadcast website preview and, once released, the Dreadcast Mac app. Kevin Fleming publishes Dreadcast. For questions about these terms, email kevin@dreadcast.app. This page is a draft dated October 2, 2026. The public app has not launched.
App license and purchases
For a Mac App Store download, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement will govern the app license unless the publisher supplies a custom agreement in App Store Connect. These website terms do not replace that license or Apple’s purchase, payment, refund, and subscription rules. The current development build has no working Pro purchase flow. If paid access launches, the app and listing will show the then-current features, price, duration or renewal terms where applicable, and how to manage or restore purchases before purchase.
Use weather information with care
Forecasts, radar, air-quality estimates, lightning, and hazard layers come from outside sources. They can be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or wrong. Dreadcast is not an emergency warning system, and it cannot guarantee that a notification arrives before dangerous weather. When safety matters, consult official forecasts and alerts and follow local emergency instructions. The website’s sample readings and themed scenes are illustrations, not live conditions or predictions.
Service availability
An internet connection and working data sources are needed for most features. Providers can change coverage, rates, terms, or availability. Dreadcast may update, suspend, or remove a feature as those conditions change. Optional features may require their own provider account and plan; Xweather lightning currently requires user-supplied credentials with eligible access.
Respectful use
Use the app and site lawfully. Do not misuse the website or try to disrupt its operation, bypass access limits, or misrepresent sample material as a live warning. Weather data, map tiles, and provider marks remain subject to their owners’ terms and attribution. The public source repository has a separate MIT license for source code; that does not grant rights to third-party data, artwork, or trademarks.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes location choices, provider requests, and website access. The Data Retention Policy explains what stays on your Mac and how to remove it.
